refusetofight: (saddest of the greeks)

“I see,” is all he says for a very long moment.

Achilles knows that what Medea says is true. He’s known men who feel entitled to their appetites, no matter how barbarous. In some cases, a life of violence and bloodshed made their tastes all the more depraved. And who among them would condemn a man for what he did in the darkness of his own shelter?

It is as it ever was: men hold all the power, women and children have none.

What would Achilles do if such things happened to Lyra? He knows with certainty, the Underworld couldn’t contain his rage. He would fume just like Medea is now, long after he’d defied death to kill them. His hands remain clenched at the thought of it.

Medea’s conviction is familiar. Laudable. It’s not something he’s often seen in mortal women.

Achilles hands finally relax. He drums his fingers, thinking. “If she were to enter your care, what would you teach my daughter?”
